Wine Errazuriz Carmenere Estate Series Red. The "local" variety of Chile, since in its native region, Bordeaux, Carmenere is now almost extinct, while it is doing well in the Latin American country. For years, Chileans thought they had planted Merlot, until a French winemaker opened their eyes. Carmenere, compared to Merlot, is a little more vegetal, a little less chocolatey but just as soft in the mouth. Errazuriz are among the masters of the genre and are among the first producers to say "Carmenere or death". Rich and full. Blackberries, soy, roasted red pepper, coffee, vanilla. In the mouth it is a rich and velvety wine.
