Wine Mavrodaphne Nouvelle Epoque Red Orealios Gaea. Nouvelle Epoque Mavrodafni is the monovarietal dry expression of the iconic red variety Mavrodafni, which has been cultivated for centuries in Kefalonia. The grapes used in the production of this wine come from pro-phylloxeric vineyards of Palliki, which yield only 400 kg/hectare. The wine matured for 12 months in oak barrels before bottling. Aromas of black fruits, dominated by that of plum, combined with the characteristic vegetality of laurel and eucalyptus. Notes of chocolate, coffee, as well as tobacco leaves and sweet spices from the twelve-month maturation in oak barrels. Favored by aging, imparting aromas of ink and tar. Wine full in the mouth, with moderate acidity and tannins and a deep purple color. It goes perfectly with rich stewed meats as well as peppery dishes.
