Liqueur Jagermeister. In 1878, the Mast family opened the first alcoholic beverage factory in a German town, Wolfenbttttel, and in 1935 created the first Jagermeister. Jagermeister's production recipe remains a secret to this day. Its global success is evidenced by the fact that in 2010 it rose to 8th place in the global sales rankings. The unique character of the Jagermeister comes from the mixture of natural ingredients. Rare exotic herbs, woods, spices, fruits, flowers, seeds, and roots from around the world reach Wolfenbuttel, Germany. A total of 56 pure herbs are used to make Jagermeister, and the Curt Mast recipe remains a secret to this day. Herbs include ginger root, anise, cardamom and orange peel. Initially, the distillers, Meister, carefully select the herbs, using the extensive knowledge of the plant substances and their aromatic ingredients. Once the herbs are approved, they are weighed into different dry mixtures based on their characteristics. They are then ground and mixed. The name Jagermeister in German means chief hunter. The reindeer is the emblem of this particular drink, and is surrounded by an image of branches, oak and pine. The old German writing on the label translates as, "It is the honor of the hunter to protect and preserve his prey, to hunt with a racing ethos, to honor the creator through his creations". Jagermeister is drunk strictly iced.
